- Selected for two support projects in 2010: Laboratory Environment Improvement and Advanced Safety Inspection - “Very helpful in inspecting the safety of university laboratories, purchasing safety equipment, and expanding facilities” Daegu University (president Hong Duck-ryul) was finally selected as a support-target university for two projects: ‘2010 Support Project for the Laboratory Safety Environment Improvement (National Treasury 30 million won)’ and ‘2010 Support Project for the Laboratory Advanced Safety Inspection (National Treasury 9.6 million won) ’. These projects, promoted by the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology as well as the Korea Engineering & Consulting Association, are projects implemented to establish safe and sound research environments by protecting laboratory researchers and technicians at universities and research centers as well as improving vulnerable factors of laboratory environment in terms of safety. Daegu University is planning to use its government subsidy of 40 million won to improve research facilities and equipment by purchasing safety equipment necessary for preventing laboratory accidents and securing laboratory stability. Ha Yeong-su, Associate Vice President said, “I think being selected for both national treasury support projects is very helpful for purchasing safety equipment and safety inspection as well as expanding facilities. We are planning to strive continuously to establish practical safety management systems based on the support of both the national treasury and university funding.”
