Daegu University’s College of Education, received an “A”-Level evaluation result from the Teacher Education Institute Evaluation

- The only university to receive an A-level evaluation in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk areas as well as among local private universities (excluding the capital area).

- Received special benefits of admission capacity adjustment autonomy as well as installment of teacher training special course and principal training course

- Resulted from various efforts for quality improvement of teacher training education

 

Daegu University (the president Hong Duck-ryul) received an A-level evaluation, the highest possible score, from the third national Teacher Education Institute Evaluation which targeted 45 universities (departments) around Korea which have colleges of education.

 

Daegu University is the only university which received the A-level evaluation in the Daegu and Gyeongbuk area (including all of the national, public, and private universities) as well as among local private universities (excluding the capital area), thus it proved again its fame and reputation as Korea’s best teacher training and education institute.

Daegu University’s College of Education was also selected as the best university in 1997’s inaugural Teacher Education Institute Evaluation which was given to only four private universities around the country. [Only Daegu University and Ewha Womans University received the highest level (A-level) evaluation on this year’s evaluation out of the four private universities which were selected as the best universities in 1997.]  

 

As such, Daegu University is assured with admission capacity adjustment autonomy and received special benefits to open special teacher training courses as well as principal training courses.

 

Such results were possible owing to various efforts by the College of Education itself, which strived to raise the quality standard of teacher training education since the inaugural evaluation as well as active support at the university-level. Lee Sang-gi, Dean of the College of Education said, “I think this is a result from increasing the ratio of teacher appointment and producing many outstanding teachers through active operation of special lecture programs on the teacher appointment test, establishment of a teacher appointment exam preparation center, and support of study group per major and per club in accordance with its fame as a renowned university for teacher cultivation.”   

 

In addition, Daegu University’s College of Education employed many current teachers as adjunct professors to increase the connection with elementary and secondary educational sites and to reflect their classroom teaching experiences to the university education. It also implemented joint research between teachers and professors. Furthermore, it took a leading role of integrated education for disabled students through the operation of a linked- curriculum between nationally renowned special education and general education. 

 

Dean Lee added, “First of all, I am glad that the educational ideology and goals of our College received a proper evaluation. I will put our best efforts to settle our college as Korea’s leading College of Education through cultivating outstanding teachers taking advantage of this evaluation.”
