- Implementing training for overseas SOHO trading experts and overseas field practice in connection with the Hong Kong Korean Chamber of Commerce

Daegu University (president Hong Duck-ryul) operates a Global Employment Capability Enhancement Program in Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong to help students to find jobs overseas.

Daegu University held a global employment capability enhancement camp at the PSB Academy in Singapore for two weeks from January 31 targeting 30 current students who are interested in overseas employment and internships.

The Singapore PSB Academy, which was founded in 1964, is one of the top private universities in Singapore and is also one of only six universities to receive the ''''4-year EduTrust'''' certificate administered by Council for Private Education (CPE) under the auspices of the Singapore Ministry of Education.

Daegu University signed an MOU with the PSB Academy in Singapore in 2013 and about 90 Daegu University students have had overseas employment training there so far.

Participants in this program will be able to improve their global employment skills through business English classes, English resume writing training, English interviewing exercises, and global company visits and lectures after completing pre-departure training in Korea.

Seo Ji-wan (Department of Psychology, 4th year, 23) said, "I am preparing thoroughly and gradually by not only learning at the Singapore camp but also by taking a month-long overseas job preparation class held by the employer last year and by visiting overseas job fairs to look closely for relevant information. It''''s not an easy challenge, but I really want to make my dream of overseas employment come true."

In addition, Daegu University runs a training course to foster foreign SOHO trading experts. SOHO stands for ''''Small Office Home Office'''', and SOHO trading is a type of business that conducts small-scale trade through online electronic transactions in the form of a home office.

The 20 students who participated in this training course had small-scale overseas trade practices during vacation, and conducted SOHO start-up market research, corporate site visits, and experiential learning in Tokyo, Japan from February 6 to 10, 2017.

In addition, since 2014, Daegu University has run overseas field practice programs that allow students to work as interns in domestic companies that have entered Hong Kong and at local companies in connection with the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce. President Hong Duck-ryul himself met with the students who were participating in the Hong Kong overseas field training in Hong Kong in July last year and encouraged them to do their best.

Students from the Department of Nursing at Daegu University have also participated in overseas international nursing and international health training programs jointly operated by Action for Peace through Prayer and Aid (APPA), an international NGO group, and have paid month-long visits to US medical institutions since January 24.

Lee Hae-man, the Associate Vice President of the Office of Career Services said, "As students are increasingly interested in overseas employment, universities as well as the government operates many programs for overseas employment. On the one hand, from the perspective of the University, I will expand support for programs related to overseas employment to actively support students'''' overseas employment. And on the other hand, I will match students to government-sponsored overseas employment programs as well."
