Operating a cross-cultural adaptation program for domestic and international students

- The program was conducted for 30 domestic students, international students, and foreign residents living in the region.

- The training sought to improve the multicultural awareness of Koreans and help non-Koreans to adapt to Korean society.

Daegu University's Student Culture Team and Center for Multiculturalism and Social Policy conducted the "Cross-cultural Adaptation Program for Domestic and International Students" as part of the “University Innovation Support Project.”

The program was designed to contribute to the local community by sharing accumulated knowledge prior to entering a transnational and multicultural society, and was conducted for 30 domestic students, international students, and foreign residents living in the region.

The program started with an opening ceremony on November 8 and included 12 sessions held every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday over four weeks. The sessions ran from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and included Korean language training, Korean culture training, Korean social adaptation training, and local culture exploration.

Through this program, Koreans had an opportunity to improve their multicultural awareness, while non-Koreans were able to receive KIIP (Korea Immigration & Integration Program) training necessary for adaptation to Korean society.

In addition, local cultural tours were conducted for program participants to experience local cultural assets to enhance their understanding of the region and cross-cultural awareness.

Wi-ling-i (Korean Language Education 2 student from China) who participated in the program said, "It was a meaningful time to learn deeply about Korean culture, history, geography, seasons, and law, and to study together with Korean students as well as people from various nationalities.”

Meanwhile, Daegu University's Center for Multiculturalism and Social Policy is actively conducting activities for international students such as the “International Student Dokdo Appreciation Hanmadang” festival and the “International Student Alumni Association Wiki+Wiki.”
